Kate’s Skincare Picks
Skincare products I use and love at Ageless Beauty
Clients often ask what I’m using on their skin during a facial, and whether they can keep it going at home. So I’ve put my favourites in one place.
Everything here is a product I use in my own studio treatments. After 12 years in the beauty industry, including my time at sk:n Clinics, I’m quite particular about what I put on a client’s face.
MONUSKIN Micro Exfoliant
What it is
A creamy exfoliating lotion from MONUSKIN, a British professional skincare brand used by beauty therapists. It uses very fine diatomaceous earth with papaya enzymes and shea butter to cleanse and gently buff away dead skin cells. MONUSKIN say it leaves skin smoother and more even-looking, with fine lines and pores less noticeable.
Why I use it
This is gentle enough to be a daily exfoliator without over drying the skin and I love the fact that it uses all natural ingredients.
How to use it
After cleansing, massage it into the face and neck, keeping away from the eyes. Add a little warm water, then rinse off thoroughly. Follow up with your moisturiser.
Good to know
Suitable for all skin types, but don’t use it on broken, sore or inflamed skin. If you exfoliate regularly, wear a daily SPF. It contains natural fragrance.
MONUSKIN Mattifying Lotion
What it is
A lightweight moisturiser for oily and combination skin, made with willow bark extract, natural salicylic acid, and lime, orange and basil essential oils. MONUSKIN say it helps control oil and leaves skin looking matte. It sinks in quickly, so make-up can go straight on. It’s also vegan, cruelty free and paraben free.
Why oily skin still needs a moisturiser
If your skin gets shiny, it’s tempting to skip moisturiser altogether. But oily skin still needs hydration. Going without can leave it feeling tight and uncomfortable, and it rarely fixes the shine. The answer is usually a lighter moisturiser, not none at all.
Why I use it
I’ve found this to be perfect for oily or combination skin because it controls the oil product and keeps the skin hydrating at the same time.
How to use it
Morning and evening, after cleansing and toning, smooth a small amount onto the face and neck with gentle upward strokes. Don’t over-massage it, as that can overstimulate the skin.
Good to know
Avoid the eye area. It contains citrus essential oils, so if your skin is sensitive, try it on a small patch first. It’s a moisturiser rather than a treatment for skin conditions. If you’re dealing with persistent breakouts, speak to your GP or pharmacist.
If you buy through these links, Ageless Beauty earns a small commission from MONUSKIN at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I use in my studio. Orders, delivery and returns are handled by MONUSKIN.
Not sure what your skin needs?
Ask me at your next appointment. I’m always happy to talk it through, with no pressure to buy anything. If you’d like your skin properly looked after, my facials are a lovely place to start.
